How The Student Visa Process Works
Eligibility Criteria:
To apply for a Student Visa in the UK, you must meet the following criteria:

- Financial Requirements: You should have enough money to support yourself and pay for your course. The amount required varies depending on your circumstances.
- English Language Proficiency: You must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
- Parental Consent: If you are 16 or 17 years old, you will need consent from your parents and evidence of this consent when you apply.
Application Timing:
The timing of your application depends on whether you’re applying from inside or outside the UK:
- Outside the UK: Apply up to 6 months before your course starts. You should receive a decision on your visa within 3 weeks.
- Inside the UK: Apply up to 3 months before your course starts. Ensure you apply before your current visa expires. Your new course must begin within 28 days of your current visa expiring. You will usually get a decision within 8 weeks.

The duration of your stay in the UK depends on your course length and your previous study history in the UK:
- Degree Level: If you’re 18 or over, you can typically stay for up to 5 years.
- Below Degree Level: The usual stay is up to 2 years.
Extending Your Stay:
If eligible, you can extend your visa to continue studying, switch to a Student Visa from another visa, or transition to a Graduate Visa after completing your course.

- Up to 1 month before if your course lasts more than 6 months.
Please ensure you do not travel to the UK before the start date specified on your visa, regardless of your course start date.
