LEGAL COVER INSURANCES | LEGAL EXPENSES COVER

Before the event policy

This is a legal expenses insurance policy that you get before an event which necessitates you to take legal action against someone or a company happens.  It is always advisable to have legal cover insurance as litigation, and legal matters can be costly.

You have to check the terms of the cover before you take it to ensure you will be covered in the event you have to use it. Most insurances will cover cases which they believe have a success rate of over 50%. This insurance normally covers you for solicitor’s fees costs and certain disbursements.

After the event insurance policy

After the event insurance policy is an insurance policy which I advise in litigation or legal action which is already ongoing. You can arrange for this through your solicitor.  This type of insurance will cover your legal costs in the event that you are unsuccessful. It is more expensive than before the event insurance cover. Mostly the insurer will have to satisfy themselves that there is a more than 50 percent of success rate. The costs you incur from the other side will be covered so can be disbursements.
